When it came to form a New Year's Resolution this year, I decided to push my creativity and love of photography into a place where I could capture the innocence of human emotion and the beauty of natural environment. The purpose of this blog allows me a focus everyday whether it be, elegance, contrast, tranquility, or a hundred other qualities in what might be just an ordinary day. It should make for an extraordinary year.

Kaleidoscope
This morning I made a point to get out early to take my photo of the day. It was a wonderland of beauty, a surreal universe.

Warm Melodies
It's a rainy night so my husband pulled out his guitar. He played a few tunes and experimented with new material to lighten his mood. Music is a tonic to soothe the soul. I moved around him to take my photo as he played.

Pewaukee Fishing Pier
Most nights during the summer there will be someone out on the pier fishing. It was a pleasant evening and calm water. I like the effect of the angular shadows on the deck of the pier created by the setting sun.

Friends gathered today for a baby shower for Sara. This group has been friends since high school. They support each other and come together to celebrate birthdays, weddings and now baby showers.

Rudbeckia
"Goldsturm" black-eye Susan are just coming into bloom. Nothing says summertime more than these little beauties. This one had to become part of my flora repetoire.

Blue Waves
Timing is everything... I walked down to the lake this morning to capture my photo of the day. There was a calmness about the lake and yet a slight breeze creating waves across the lake. The waves were there and then gone in moments.

Tiger Lily
Just had a few minutes to take a few photos this morning before going off to work. May have to revisit photographing the tiger lilies that are just starting to bloom. I want to give it justice in showing the beauty and the elegance of this flower.

Shell Still Life
I put together a still life using some found objects (freshwater shells and drift wood) from Pewaukee Lake. There seems to be a resurgence of freshwater shells in the lake. I remember finding them in the lake as a child. It seemed like they had disappeared until recently. They're back!

Garden Fresh Beans
We harvested the first of the green beans from our garden today. The natural light made for a perfect photo.

Smokey Sky
It was another night of changing weather. Just as we arrived at Lapham Pike tonight to take in the view from the tower it started raining. The rain came and went quickly. We made our way to the top of the tower to take in the most colorful skyline.

Echinacea
Purple cone flower, small waves of purple, healing medicine plant. I have 100's growing in the back yard this year giving me many to choose from to photograph.

Smokey Clouds
Rain came through this evening, followed by the most spectacular clouds. They changed moment by moment. This shot was by far the most colorful.

Pickle in the Making
Our vegetable garden is a great source for photographs. Early morning light washes this simple baby cucumber still attached to the flower. In a few weeks refrigerator pickles will grace the table.

Need for Speed
The Pewaukee Triathlon took place today starting in the village of Pewaukee. The bike course goes around the lake. It was a short walk for me to watch and photograph the biking segment of the event.

Pumpkin Blossom
I was down underneath the pumpkin leaves photographing the blooms this morning. The sunlight provided the perfect luminance. The flower of a pumpkin is quite lovely.

Mystery Flower
Just by chance I found this lonely flower growing from a mass of twisted and tangled vines and leaves. It looks much like a morning glory, however, the leaves are different from anything I've seen before.

Currants, Lot's of Currants
Today I started the tedious task of picking currants that we have growing in the yard. Like everything else this year they are prolific. I crouched down to photograph these little beauties before I turn them into jelly.

On the Edge of Our Fresh Water Sea
We took a road trip to Point Beach State Forest today. I was a bit disappointed with the shoreline covered with alewives. The gulls did not seem to mind.

Pink Flamingo's
I've seen these flamingos in a yard that I drive by most every day. I love flamingos and could not resist pulling over and taking this photo tonight. Every few days they move and are in a different place on the property.

Burst of Color
When everything around you looks green... that burst of color creates a scene. Today is July 1st, it marks the half way point of my photo blog.
