It's a rainy night so my husband pulled out his guitar. He played a few tunes and experimented with new material to lighten his mood. Music is a tonic to soothe the soul. I moved around him to take my photo as he played.

Pewaukee Fishing Pier

Most nights during the summer there will be someone out on the pier fishing. It was a pleasant evening and calm water. I like the effect of the angular shadows on the deck of the pier created by the setting sun.

Friends

Friends gathered today for a baby shower for Sara. This group has been friends since high school. They support each other and come together to celebrate birthdays, weddings and now baby showers.

Blue Waves

Timing is everything... I walked down to the lake this morning to capture my photo of the day. There was a calmness about the lake and yet a slight breeze creating waves across the lake. The waves were there and then gone in moments.

Shell Still Life

I put together a still life using some found objects (freshwater shells and drift wood) from Pewaukee Lake. There seems to be a resurgence of freshwater shells in the lake. I remember finding them in the lake as a child. It seemed like they had disappeared until recently. They're back!

The RiverWalk along Commerce Street made for a great scene to photograph this evening. The pink clouds created a nice over all pink hue.

It was another night of changing weather. Just as we arrived at Lapham Pike tonight to take in the view from the tower it started raining. The rain came and went quickly. We made our way to the top of the tower to take in the most colorful skyline.

Our vegetable garden is a great source for photographs. Early morning light washes this simple baby cucumber still attached to the flower. In a few weeks refrigerator pickles will grace the table.

The Pewaukee Triathlon took place today starting in the village of Pewaukee. The bike course goes around the lake. It was a short walk for me to watch and photograph the biking segment of the event.

Mystery Flower

Just by chance I found this lonely flower growing from a mass of twisted and tangled vines and leaves. It looks much like a morning glory, however, the leaves are different from anything I've seen before.

Today I started the tedious task of picking currants that we have growing in the yard. Like everything else this year they are prolific. I crouched down to photograph these little beauties before I turn them into jelly.

We took a road trip to Point Beach State Forest today. I was a bit disappointed with the shoreline covered with alewives. The gulls did not seem to mind.

Calliope a local Milwaukee band was one of several that played this evening on the Cascio stage at Summerfest. I follow the band because my son is one of the forming members. Fun night at Summerfest 2013!
